I spent one glorious night at the DY Hotel in Gyeongju, South Korea in a deluxe suite, having been offered an upgrade when booking. Compared to the Hanok village hotel my friend had booked prior nights and which I ditched after my water heater malfunctioned and began emitting noxious fumes where I had been sleeping on a pad on the floor and had no chairs, not to mention the noise from children playing outside due to it being a family resort , this was a very welcome respite from the rigors of travel.
